Sunshine Academy is a Chinese NGO based in Bao’an, Shenzhen. It was established in 2007 to provide opportunities for orphaned children living in government-run Social Welfare Centers. The Academy’s mission is to help educate, socialize and nurture vulnerable children living within these Centers, to ensure they go on to have fulfilled and productive lives.

The V&A Museum's arrival in Shenzhen in 2018 marked the first collaboration of its kind between an international museum and a Chinese partner. Michele's MS & HS choir were the first international school choir to perform in this groundbreaking space for China, and in collaboration with the drama and visual arts departments, we were able to impact the community in the most wonderful way.

Community Service

Growing up participating heavily in Community Service of her home city, Atlanta GA, the act of giving back has always been close to Michele's heart. Instilling the joy of helping others is something she wanted to pass along to her students, and so Michele found many volunteer opportunities around the city for her students to experience.
